Outdoor Retailer was a great show for Rec’Repair. The attendance and vendors were down a bit. Whether due to the slow economy or the show being moved deeper into the paddle sports season is not apparent. But some great contacts were made.
We came out of the show with an interested party that might just take Rec’Repair international, offering the canoe and kayak fix to European markets.
Another exciting contact was a car top carrier company, and not the one who recommends their customers to contact us when they damage their carrier.
At the show, we also began showing our improved version of the product: Color Changing Patches!! As the material reaches the optimal temperature, it changes color to white, letting the user know when it’s ready. Then, when it cools, it returns to its original color. No more guessing if the patch is hot enough.
But don’t get too anxious. This color change will not be available until January 2010.
Also, in response to a comment posted: The recommended adhesive for the skid plate application is 3M’s Scotch Weld DP 8005. A suggested online retailer is http://www.ellsworth.com/.

It seems every time we need something repaired, we’re turning to Rec’Repair to see if it will do the job. Here are some more photos of things repaired using Rec’Repair.
Suitcase
After using it one time, the suitcase handle area cracked. Rec’Repair repaired this crack, and the suitcase survived many more trips!
Bocce Ball Set Handle
Rec’Repair provided a strong, attractive repair that could sustain the 23-pound weight of the set. It can be picked up and carried and the broken area doesn’t give out.
Trailer Latch
Rec’Repair can replace broken or missing material. In this case, a hard-to-find replacement trailer latch was replaced with a piece of strategically cut and shaped Rec’Repair.

Rec’Repair made quick work of fixing a cracked pole on an easy-up tent. When cool and rigid, Rec’Repair can be drilled or sanded.
“I salvaged a $450 tent with a 4×8″ patch!”
- Jason Alderink
Special thanks to Power Outdoors for the photos of this great repair!
How about you? Have you made a great money-saving repair? Let’s hear your comments!

There seems to be some confusion about our supplying the adhesive for Rec’Repair Skid Plates for canoes and kayaks.
Due to the short shelf life of the adhesive that Rec’Repair began supplying, the decision was made to STOP SUPPLYING the adhesive.
Rec’Repair is working on finding a cost-effective adhesive with a longer shelf life, but until that time, we will recommend an adhesive to get the job done.

I wanted to share a letter that I received about the use of Rec’Repair.
Hi, John. I just wanted to let you know that we finally got around to repairing our pod this weekend (Thule cargo carrier). My husband said it was very easy to use Rec’Repair, and we hosed it down for a while to check how water proof it was. We consider it a success. Thank you! SB – South Berwick ME
These car top carriers are quite expensive, and this Rec’Repair order was less than $25.00.
With the ecomomy running a bit slow, we are seeing an increase in people searching for lower cost repair methods for their expensive equipment.
